Meditation Focal Points

Magickal Decor, Meditation, Spells & Energy

I’d estimate that there are as many ways to meditate as there are people who meditate.  No once size style has to fit all.

There’s sound meditation.  Sometimes that means meditating to music, or to the sound of a trickling fountain.  It could mean following a guided meditation or the hypnotic sound of a drum.

Some people love moving meditations.  Circle dancing, Tai Chi, Qigong or simply walking.  I’m pretty sure I enter a meditative state while folding laundry, but that could just be wishful thinking.

One way I do know works well for me to meditate is using a focal point.   Sometimes a candle flame works, or a bowl of water.  Smoke or a bonfire is always awesome.  Or crystals.  I do love crystals!

Here’s a delightfully simple and lovely way to focus on crystals and meditate.

  • Hang a crystal suncatcher above your meditation space.  Any area will do, but somewhere that the crystals will catch the light is ideal.
  • Get cozy and relax, with your gaze focused on the suncatcher.
  • Breathe in, breathe out.  Settle your breath in a natural, easy rhythm.
  • Watch the sun sparkle through the crystal, see the prisms of light shimmering on the wall.
  • Watch the lights, hear your breath, release your thoughts.  All of your attention is on the suncatcher.
  • If you find your mind wandering, if thoughts intrude, gently return your focus to the suncatcher.  Visually trace the lines, the twisting wires, the crystal’s path one to the next, while your breath soothes and your mind settles again.
  • As you relax, listen for messages.  From your guides, from you higher self, from you intuition.  Note those messages, then return to the soothing relaxation by focusing all your attention on the suncatcher again.

It works for me every time.  I hope you’ll give it a try and see if this form of meditation works for you, too.
