What is Sacred Space?
The simplest description is a space that makes your Soul happy.
I often think of it as a magickal space felt after a circle is cast, a place of perfect love and perfect trust. But Sacred Space isn't only found in ritual. It's wherever you feel whole and magickal and energetically aligned.
That could be a ritual space. But it could also be a cushion in front of an altar, a section of floorspace cleared for dancing, or the winding path through a gorgeous garden.
It might be a corner of the couch warmed by sunshine, a favorite spot to snuggle under sweetly-scented blanket or standing at the stovetop stirring up something delicious.
Some sacred spaces are communal—temples, groves, museums—places that hum with spiritual energy. But each of us has, or can create, our own personal sacred space. More importantly, each of us needs to cultivate our own sacred space—a haven we can return to daily.
Your sacred space can be as small as a corner of a room or as expansive as your entire home. It might be a permanent structure that visually calls you in as soon as you see it, or a sensory trigger—a candle’s flame, a favorite crystal’s energy, the scent of a herbal blend—that opens your senses to spirit. It could be a comfy spot where you settle in for a sound journey, a morning divination ritual, or a moonlit meditation.
The key for any sacred space is that it invites in the energy that makes you feel whole, magickal, and aligned with spirit.
