At the heart of almost everything I create—whether it’s a pendulum, plant stake, spell candleholder, or altar jar—is a crystal. Crystals aren’t just decorative accents in my art—they are allies, guides, and energetic anchors for the magickal purpose of each piece. Each one is carefully chosen and lovingly worked with. Because working with crystals is so integral to my work, I thought it would be helpful to share a behind-the-scenes look at how I work with them—from the moment of selection to the moment they’re sent off to their new homes.
Whether you're curious about my spiritual practices or simply love seeing how things are made, here is a foundational glimpse into the soul of Her Enchanted Creations.
Working With Crystals: How I Choose Each Stone
I’ve been hooked on crystals since childhood—ever since I was really young. My Grampa was a rock hound, and I grew up tagging along on rock-hunting trips and spending countless hours cleaning, tumbling, polishing, and eventually shaping stones with him. Those early experiences are more than just treasured memories—they taught me to appreciate not only the beauty of each crystal, but the quiet, powerful energy these Earth-born allies hold.
Today, I work hard to bring that same sense of care and energy to sourcing the crystals I create with. I work with trusted suppliers who value ethical sourcing, and I choose the stones with intention—balancing beauty, energy, and purpose. And whenever possible, I hand-select the crystals in person, hovering my intuitive (non-dominant) hand over the selection to feel for the energy that aligns with my purpose.
Tradition and Intuition in Working With Crystals
I deeply honor traditional crystal correspondences and always start there. I’ve spent a long time studying elemental correspondences, planetary alignments, and historical uses of crystals and this forms the backbone of my practice and connect me to generations of magickal wisdom. At the same time, years of hands-on experience have taught me that crystals can sometimes offer energetic qualities or applications that extend beyond what's recorded in books.
For instance, some crystals have well-known correspondences and clear historical associations—like amethyst for divination, or rose quartz for love magick. But while moss agate is commonly linked with plant magick, I might feel called to use smoky quartz or citrine in a plant-focused creation because of the energy they bring to that specific piece. This is the kind of intuitive expansion that can happen only after deep study and relationship-building—and it’s part of what makes each creation uniquely magickal.
Working With Crystals: Cleansing Before Creation
Once a crystal has been chosen—whether through traditional alignment, intuitive guidance, or often a mix of both—my next step is to prepare it energetically. Before I begin creating anything, the crystal must be cleansed, cleared, and welcomed into sacred space. This step is essential, not just for spiritual hygiene, but to honor the crystal as an active partner in the work we’re about to do together.
Depending on the type of crystal, I use a variety of cleansing methods:
Smoke (usually from herbs I dry from my garden, loose incense blends I’ve crafted for this specific purpose)
Sound (tuning fork or singing bowls)
Moonlight or sunlight
Selenite plates or salt beds
This cleansing removes any previous energies, leaving the crystal in the most natural state I can manage.
Infusing Intention While Working With Crystals
I usually begin with a clear design in mind, especially when I'm creating a ritual tool like a pendulum, altar jar, or plant stake. But intention isn’t just something I set once and forget—it’s something I weave in as I work.
As I shape the wire and position the crystal, I focus on the energy I want the finished piece to carry. If I'm crafting a pendulum, I might chant softly for clarity and divination. If it's a piece meant to support plant growth, I focus on themes of grounding, vitality, and the relationship between the stone and the living green.
I often use short chants, mantras, or rhythmic phrases while I work—quiet affirmations that help charge the piece with purpose. This process is meditative, purposeful, and part of what brings the magick to life.
Final Cleansing & Blessing
Once a piece is complete, I cleanse and bless it to seal in its energy and clear any residue from the crafting process.
This is where the magick is anchored. I work with herbs, oils, or incense blends aligned to the item’s specific purpose, and I speak a blessing aloud—calling in the energy the piece is meant to carry and share when it reaches its new home.
Each blessing is a little different, depending on the item and its intention. But every one is spoken with care and reverence. This is the final step that ensures each creation is energetically complete, grounded, and ready for its next chapter.
Sacred Storage
Until a piece is purchased, it’s stored with care in a space that’s energetically dedicated to holding its vibration. In other words—I have an entire closet with a shelving units dedicate as sacred space for my creations.
It’s a quiet, protected, and energetically aligned environment. Once an item is finished, wrapped, and placed on the shelf, I avoid unnecessary handling. I often add cleansing tools like selenite, copper coils, or other neutralizing elements to keep the energy stable and clear.
Like a spell waiting to manifest, each piece rests in a state of stillness—waiting for the person it’s meant to support.
Shipping the Magick: Ritual and Release
When a creation is purchased, the final ritual begins.
If it’s a one-of-a-kind piece, it’s simply retrieved from its sacred storage space. But if there are multiples of the item, I use a selection process similar to how I choose crystals. I focus on the customer’s name, then hover my intuitive (non-dominant) hand over the options, feeling for the one that resonates most clearly for that specific person.
Once the piece is chosen, I perform a full pre-shipping blessing ritual to ensure the energy is refreshed, grounded, and lovingly sealed.
Each creation is:
- First cleansed in smoke
- Then blessed in a custom loose incense blend created specifically for this purpose
- Dedicated in candle flame
- Blessed with a spoken chant during the wrapping and packaging process
- Finished with a sprinkle of blessed herbs to seal the magick
This ritual transforms the act of packaging into a sacred offering. It ensures that what is sent out into the world has been honored, cleansed, and charged—ready to carry its energy into a new space and purpose.
The Sacred Rhythm of Crafting and Care While Working With Crystals
Working with crystals is more than a step in my process—it’s a rhythm woven through every part of my creation ritual. From the moment a stone is selected to the moment it’s sent out into the world, each action is filled with intention and focus. Each piece I create and sell at Her Enchanted Creations holds the imprint of tradition, intuition, and sacred care.
Whether you're reading this out of curiosity, connection, or a shared love of crystal magick, I hope this behind-the-scenes glimpse offers insight into the heart of my work. This is the foundation I return to again and again—not just in crafting, but in the way I live, create, and honor the tools that carry energy into sacred spaces.
