Magick Crystal Ink

Crystal Magick

Today, magickal ink is readily available for purchase from numerous sources.  But in the way back when, olden days when I first began working, magick lived in the hushed shadows, tools and ingredients were quite challenging to find, and recipes were found in old, crackling yellow-paged books.

Over the years, I’ve made, or tried to make, many magickal ink recipes, often with iffy results.  I think there is a special technique to getting the herbs/oils/florals/fruits/wine just so, in a flowing, smooth, inkable form.  And my handle on that technique wasn’t very reliable.  One batch of ink would be perfect, but the next time I’d make it, it might be too thin or too gummy.  Eventually, when I asked myself the purpose of the ink, and what energies I wanted from it, I found a workable magickal, alternative.

I start with a base of water-based calligraphy ink.  I choose the color of the ink, and at least 1 herb, essential oil and crystal that correspond with the magickal goal I’ll use the ink for, be it Prosperity, Transformation, Love, Spiritual Connection, and so on.  I charge the ink, the herb, oil and the crystal for that goal, spending time focusing on the feeling of the outcome as much as the energy that’ll draw it into fruition.

I then add the herb & oil to the ink, pouring it into a jar that resonates with that goal before adding the crystal.

In this case, I created a Dragon’s Blood infused ink for power, courage and amplification.  I used red ink, ground Dragon’s Blood resin, 3 drops of cinnamon oil and a Quartz Crystal.  Since this is an ink I’ll use on a regular basis, for a variety of workings, I wanted an ample supply of ink.  So I chose Gemini Zodiac Apothecary Jar to store it, calling on Gemini’s dynamic gift for communication – a key element in using magickal ink in spellwork.  (ie: ink = writing = communicating an idea, message, sigil, energy)

If you like using astrology in your workings, Zodiac Jars are a great way to bring that energy in.  Any of the Air Signs would end themselves to holding ink as Air rules over communication.  But definitely my favorite for this particular recipe is the Gemini jar.
